About MaKa Ensemble

MaKa Ensemble, a vibrant collaboration born in the autumn of 2023, is a creation of two chamber music enthusiasts and longtime friends, Martin Quéméneur and Kamil El-Ahmadieh. Their shared love for the art form blossomed during their studies at The Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where their musical journey took root.

Distinguished by a diverse repertoire that not only encompasses original compositions for saxophone and piano but also showcases a myriad of arrangements, MaKa Ensemble captivates audiences with the rich tapestry of colors and expressions the duo brings to its performances. Their musical personalities is defined by a constant exploration of the various facets and potential of the ensemble.

Performing both in Helsinki and at international venues, MaKa Ensemble embarked on its inaugural tour of the Czech Republic in November 2023. The ensemble is poised for another series of performances in May 2024, with scheduled concerts in Prague, Brno, Třebíč, and Hrotovice.

Under the tutelage of pianist Tuomas Turriago and through enriching masterclasses with esteemed musicians such as Joonatan Rautiola, Nicolas Herrouët, Marko Hilpo, and others, MaKa Ensemble developed their artistic maturity during their formative years at the Sibelius Academy. This period of mentorship and exploration has played a pivotal role in shaping the ensemble’s distinctive musical identity.
